They said about us…

Knjazovic is painting with an „inner clarity and childish joy of narration“.

„Knjazovic belongs to a smaller group of naive painters, who succeeded to reach the pinnacle of our naive art. He stand out of that well-known circle of „Kovačica school“ of naive art and achieved his authentic painting style.“

Slobodan S. Sanader
(excerpt from the catalogue of painting exhibition in Novi Sad, Art salon of JNA, 1981)

„By his extraordinary stylistics of characters in motion and positioning them in regard to needs and conditions, Ján Knjazovic conjures up our childhood, the game of mature child.

No surprise that respectable critics rank him as one of the most famous names of our naive art, his paintings are presented on every important exhibition and his works are very valued in our country and abroad. And yet he remained a simple man, he saved his sense of humor, spontaneity and warmth, which is one of the main characteristics of Slovak people.“

Nebojša Tomašević, 1975

Ján Knjazovic, a great mage of our naive art, „an author of blue paintings from the blue house“. He paints with his heart and with a help of undrainable imagination and energy.

Slavomir Vojinović
(excerpt from the catalogue of exhibition in OKC Mladenovac, 1982)

„The painting concept of Ján Knjazovic is completely different than creative perception of his art associates from Kovačica.”

Stojan Trumić

—————————————–

„Knjazovic is using a spectrum of intense colors of Slovak folklore, which transform into refined harmonies of blue, green and violet.“

Milana Vojinović

If her father, famous painter Ján Knjazovic didn’t draw a pink horse for her when she was a child, who knows what would happen with their painting work. A craft and talent are being carried forward as a life decision, as a love for bright coloring and simple shape.

„When immersing in Anna’s paintings, we are being convinced that everything is here, nothing is lost, life is bright and nice if we know how to use the golden keys that we got in our childhood.“

Radmila Vasiljević

When the storm calms down and the river cleans up, only the true values remains. And those values do not need marketing and self-promotion. Among them are Ján Knjazovic and his family.

Everyone expected that her paintings will remind the works of her mother Ana Knjazovic, or her grandfather Ján, who already became a legend. Everyone was looking at her and she knew that criticism will be sharp, but she opposed them with her own world. It is built on different surrealism with gentle figures, pastel coloring and measured symbols. When it comes to coloring, her mother is more vivid, while she is more like her grandfather, a dreamer.

Nataša is emphasizing some details with certain symbolic meaning, and these details can’t be found on the paintings of her mother and grandfather. Thus she creates a possibility to play with oneiric motives and she is getting close to surrealistic expression.
